I spent some lovely time at home over the weekend. I did yoga there. I arranged flowers. I made cups of tea and read books. I tidied. I wrote, sitting in front of my window, light streaming in. It all makes me happy. The light was particularly pretty yesterday in the early evening and I snapped a few pics. I ought really to have straightened the cushions on the sofa, but you know... I sort of like it this way
You're right; the light was particularly pretty. A big window like that is great to have. Beautiful bar :) and color-coded books. I like the cushions smushed, too - shows someone lives there. The best part about growing up and getting older is building a home of one's own. Thank you for this glimpse into your personal space.
You've done a lovely job in your home, Jane! I especially love the bookcases and how you've arranged them. And the bar! So fun. Also really like how you arranged the photos on your fridge. I need to do that! xo
This has to be one of the most beautiful posts. It just made me pause for a moment. Love that. I just took up camp, by the cookbooks- hope you don't mind. Wink. xo
Thank you! I really do love looking at things I love! It may not look like it, but I really declutter all the things I don't completely adore - including books that I didn't enjoy.
Such a beautiful home Jane...so restful yet so visually stimulating...I initially thought it was a spread from WoI. I particularly love the pale grey tones of your walls...and your colour based book organisation is delightful...everything looks so carefully and thoughtfully selected...x
Just the perfect mix of pieces that we all know (the IKEA ones) with unique and original items to make it a special place. Lovely taking a peek into your home!
Okay, so I'm going to just say it: I'm so jealous! What a beautiful apartment Jane, everything about it says tasteful and cosy. And I think I spot my little poem print with Lynn on your fridge. I have so much crap covering my fridge, this inspires me to re-decorate it with only the images and words I love.
No!!! Don't say jealous! And - yes! - that's your poem on my fridge. I consider my fridge like a rotating art collection so I really make myself make hard choices - but then I redo it completely every month or so... so it's a fun little thing to change up in my tiny kitchen!
Your home is so pretty Jane. And it is quite a lot like I imagined it would be. I love the photos and pictures on the fridge and the whole place. Strange how grey can be so soothing (and I like that the cushions are not all plumped up - it reminds me that someones lives there!)
I love this! Very inspiring...especially your fridge. Would you mind sharing the artist and/or name of the picture of the girl with the yellow dress. She is so beautiful. Thank you. Cali
What a lovely space. I'm from Wexford but have been living in San Francisco for years, so it was wonderful to find your blog. You're such a lovely writer! Did Bewleys do an Orla Kiely collection of tins?

Sure - it's the same artist as the portrait over my bookshelf (though that's an original painting)
DeleteHere's the artist / seller on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/tushtush
Where is that lovely blue velvet chair from? I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's vintage Saarinen, reupholstered. But Knoll still has the license to produce, so they're readily available at stores like DWR etc.
DeleteYou have such a beautiful living space..just the perfect size and super cozy looking. Great post!
