Of course, it wasn't easy for me to get here. At its lowest point, 2010 was a difficult year and when I survey how unlike that post I feel now, I know that's representative of a good deal of soul-baring, plain-talking and constant, ongoing self-adjusting.

So, here are my 2011 Resolutions:
1. Hold steady with exercise and with budget.
2. Make use of vacation days; get out of town more often.
3. Use professionals. In particular, find an accountant and a good massage therapist.
4. Declutter apartment; weed out incoherent stuff.
5. Dress more like my own "Sunday Best" posts.
6. When feeling stressed, do less.
7. Don't freak out over 35th birthday, even though it's my "scary age".
8. Buy some super nice, new sleepwear.
What are you resolving for 2011? Happy New Year!

Your resolutions sound very reasonable and easily achieved! Happy new year to you!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that you feel like you are in a good place right now, Jane. Have a happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI think all of your readers share resolution number five!! WIshing you a glorious new decade!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I am in love! Those are great resolutions and I think I will borrow a couple for myself.
ReplyDelete35 is a completely brilliant age to be - you are coming to your prime.
ReplyDeleteI'll steal some of your resolutions especially the dress like your sunday best feature!
Have a peaceful New Year,
A
I recently read this book by Linda Grant in which she describes golden age film goddesses (she cites Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Veronica Lake, and Mary Astor) and says, "However old they were, whatever role they played, they always acted and looked like thirty-five. The age of experience." I liked that.
ReplyDeleteLove your resolutions, especially the one about the massage therapist. I don't even call it a treat anymore (though it totally is!) I lump it in with exercise and eating well; good for the mind, good for the bod, good for the soul!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and your honest writing. I find it SO refreshing. All the best in 2011.
Danielle
Congrats on having hold steady as a resolution. That's a great place to be and a place I hope to be next year!
ReplyDeleteI really like your Sunday Best selections. You have me thinking about tidying up my look a bit. 35 is a piece of cake. No worries.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year lady!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you in 2011, dear sweet Jane! I wish you luck with all your intentions. You can TOTALLY rock that list. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love these, Jane. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jane! Happy New Year! My 35th birthday was 2 days ago and I thought I'd freak out, but it was actually a lot less dramatic than anticipated.
ReplyDeleteI don't really do resolutions, I prefer setting goals (or maybe it's just semantics?).
My goals basically involve some travelling (Iceland and Madagascar, my birth country, and maybe Japan again) and some house projects (redesign and renovation). I'm excited!
Funny thing, your number 5 is my resolution, too: "Dress more like Jane's Sunday Best". ;) I hope you have the most wonderful 2011.
ReplyDeleteHi you.
ReplyDeleteI like your resolutions. I think we all need to "weed out incoherent stuff" to some degree. I sure do. :)
Happy 2011, Jane!
xoox,
