Mirror, mirror

I don't think I could stand seeing myself reflected so much that I'd be inspired to fill one wall with mirrors. But, from a stylistic standpoint, it's makes such a huge and wonderful impression! I especially love this idea for a space with darker walls. The light the mirrors would amplify would create quite a dramatic effect, be it natural, candlelight or artificial.

  1. I did this in my last place - the mirrors were about 14 inches high and about 11 inches across. There were 48 mirrors in total and they looked very much like the window panes that were in the house.

Honestly, I forgot they were there - I never thought to look for myself in the mirrors, they simply bounced the light around and the general reflection of the building across the street.

It's a wonderful way to add light and space to a somewhat small room. : )

  6. Totally agree that mirrors are a great way to enhance the lighting in a room. I think you'll need a pretty big space to pull it off though... these are lovely!

  7. I love that first one of the bathroom especially; the mix of a modern sink and faucet with the vintage mirrors...and just generally the great mix of beautiful and interesting objects hanging on the wall...

  8. Hahahaha! Love your comment about the reflections. I have a pal who has collected antique mirrors for years and she hung them all together, very close, and they look amazing. It is like a work of art.

  9. Cool! Mirrors also make the room appear larger and more spacious than it seems.

  12. I like the concept- I think it might be best in a dark hallway, where the mirrors would add a bit of needed light and sparkle (and you wouldn't be staring yourself in the face all the time!)

  13. I think it makes the places look cold and sharp-edged!

  14. I have a huge mirror over our bed, and it really makes a statement. The good thing is that it is a hung at a certain height and I hardly ever see myself reflected in it (which I hate).
But it still makes an impact and really brings in a whole lot of light.

  15. There is a bar in Seattle that has the back wall decorated with mirrors like this - the candlelight from the tables looks amazing! The wall is painted black. I couldn't see this in a room I spent a lot of time in, but in a formal dining room it would be so pretty during parties!

  16. All of the mirrors on the wall feels the the beginning of a new Alice in Wonderland book. They're gorgeous.

  17. My Aunt has a wall of mirrors in her tiny countryside cottage:

It is the perfect fit for the space and def. opens it up. I do like that the mirrors are vintage and most have worn/distorted patinas. That way I don't feel too self conscious ;)
    Happy Sunday!
