I was listening to vintage REM today. Half a World Away was one of my favourite songs in University. Everybody loved REM then. Everybody broke up to REM songs and snogged new boys to different REM songs. I can't hear them without feeling the campus cobblestones beneath my feet and smelling the mustiness of scholar's rooms. The heady days of undergraduate angst and bravado, measured out in Michelmas, Hilary and Trinity. And Dublin before the tiger got it. Photo via.
